ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Guest Artist Update
Hilary Hahn has withdrawn from these performances due to her ongoing recovery from an injury. Our thoughts are with Ms. Hahn as she recovers from this injury, and we look forward to welcoming her back to Houston in a future season.
Following her recent commercial recording of the Brahms Violin Concerto with the BBC Symphony, celebrated Italian violinist Francesca Dego shares this beloved masterpiece at Jones Hall in her Houston Symphony debut, under the direction of Conductor Laureate Andrés Orozco-Estrada. From its earth-shattering opening to its otherworldly ending, Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra is a stunning adventure in sound.

What to Expect:
- A dazzling performance by violin virtuoso Francesca Dego.
- Brahms’s famed Violin Concerto goes from ravishing beauty to rollicking dance spirit.
- “Open the pod bay doors, HAL.” Hear the epic, iconic music used in 2001: A Space Odyssey, live and in its entirety.
