Social Services

Social Services

The Symphony partners with a variety of social service agencies and other non-profit organizations, including women’s and homeless shelters, senior centers, and other organizations, to enhance the quality of life for over 4,000 underresourced Houstonians through free orchestra concert attendance at Jones Hall and musician-led ensemble concerts at partner sites.

It has been proven that listening to music dramatically helps improve people’s mental well-being and boost physical health; lowering stress, reducing depression, and making people happier overall. These benefits are especially important for the seniors, foster children, people transitioning out of homelessness, and refugees new to Houston that the Symphony serves through this initiative.
