ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Violinist Blake Pouliot (“One of those special talents that comes along once in a lifetime”-Toronto Star) dazzles in Tchaikovsky’s exuberant Violin Concerto. Decried by critics at its premiere, the concerto has become one of the most cherished pieces of the orchestral repertoire. Tchaikovsky’s towering Fifth Symphony encompasses the full range of the human condition. From its quiet and unsettled opening to its ecstatic finale, this work carries the audience along on a tumultuous journey from darkness to light.
