Hey, kids! Guess what? It’s Teacher Appreciation Week! Teachers guide us in all areas of our lives, and it’s important to let them know what they mean to us.
THE CHALLENGE: Can you write a poem for your favorite teachers? Can you turn it into a song?
The words could be put the tune of a song you already know (you might consider songs like “She’ll Be Coming’ Round The Mountain,” “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” or “The Wheels on the Bus”), or a tune you make up on your own. In your song, try singing with your LOUD voice and then your soft voice! Send it to your teacher, and then post it on social media with the hashtag #HoustonSymphonyDraws for the world to see.
When we use our singing voices, we make the music by adding dynamics. Do you know what dynamics are? Dynamics is just a fancy word for when is LOUD or soft! Listen to this super fun song about dynamics, and try to sing in your LOUD and soft voice:
Teachers teach us everything we know. They work day and night to make our learning experiences fun. We should salute not only our schoolteachers, but also our parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends, because they all teach us something!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
