Secret #2: Prelude Pre-Concert Talks and Performances
These FREE events are especially useful and interesting for music aficionados and first-time symphony concert goers alike. Offered in Jones Hall 45 minutes prior to each Houston Symphony classical concert, they give you a chance to learn more about the music you’re about to hear. Intimate and informal, these talks usually include an interview with the evening’s conductor, a featured musician or a musicologist, and provide a behind the scenes sneak-peak at what makes the evening’s music so special. So show up a little early and get the insider scoop on the music you’re about to hear in a fun, relaxed, non-stuffy environment!

Our next Prelude talks will take place October 18, 20 and 22, 45 minutes prior to each Lang Lang Plays Beethoven concert, and will feature an interview of the Houston Symphony’s guest conductor, Pablo Heras-Casado, as he speaks about the exciting program of music including Beethoven Concerti (played by Lang Lang), Schumann’s Symphony No. 4 and Magnus Lindberg’s EXPO. Heras-Casado will be interviewed by Brett Mitchell on October 18 and 20 and St. John Flynn on October 21.
