Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski Concludes Tenure With Classic Broadway Concert

HOUSTON (May 15, 2017) – Michael Krajewski will take his final bows as Principal POPS Conductor of the Houston Symphony during the season finale concert, Classic Broadway, at 8 p.m. May 26-27 and 7:30 p.m. May 28 at Jones Hall.

Broadway powerhouse vocalists Lisa Vroman, Doug LaBrecque, and Rachel York will join the orchestra to sing favorites from the Great White Way, including “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Oklahoma,” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” The Houston Symphony Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Betsy Cook Weber, will also appear on the program, their last performance at Jones Hall before touring Prague June 11-18, 2017.

Krajewski, who has held the Principal POPS Conductor post for 17 years, is known for his wry onstage humor and developing highly successful new programs for orchestras nationwide, including UK Rocks, Bond & Beyond, Classic Soul, I Love a Piano and The Sounds of Simon and Garfunkel. Krajewski is also music director of The Philly Pops and principal pops conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Jacksonville Symphony.

The concert will take place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana Street, in Houston’s Theater District.
