Tribute to John Denver with Jim Curry

Tribute to John Denver with Jim Curry

Jim Curry, John Denver Tribute Artist

The Houston Symphony is excited to welcome Jim Curry, April 5-7, 2012 at Jones Hall, to perform John Denver classics.

John Denver began his career as a member of the Mitchell Trio. When the group disbanded, Denver was quick to start a successful solo career on his own with such songs as “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, “Rocky Mountain High”, and “Annie’s Song.”

He developed a great passion for the environment and these views became more and more expressed in his music. His outspoken beliefs of hope and peace brought him many unique opportunities. For example, he was the first American performer in the USSR since the cold war, and the first American to do a multi-city tour of Mainland China.

This weekend’s performer Jim Curry was always aware of the similarity his voice had to Denver’s. Following Denver’s tragic death, Curry provided Denver’s singing voice for CBS’s TV movie about John Denver’s life. This inspired Jim to keep Denver’s music alive and perform tribute concerts for his fellow Denver fans.

Join us as this weekend as Jim revives the full orchestral arrangements Denver created with Grammy Award winning arranger, composer and conductor Lee Holdrige.

This concert will be a wonderfully unique chance to hear all your favorite John Denver hits! Preview Jim’s performances here:
