Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1

About This Concert

Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 will be performed live in Houston May 28–30, 2027 with the Houston Symphony at Jones Hall.

Elegance and grace meet thundering might and boundary-pushing vision in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1—a staggering tour de force designed to showcase the young composer’s own skills as one of the preeminent piano virtuosos of his day. Revered pianist Garrick Ohlsson infuses every note with poetry and power.

Gustav Mahler called Hans Rott “without exaggeration, the founder of the new symphony as I understand it.” Before Rott’s tragic death at just 25 years old, he left behind a remarkable symphony full of groundbreaking scope and fearless innovation.
