Biography

Han Xie, originally from China, will be joining the Houston Symphony in August 2026. Prior to his appointment in Houston, Han served as a member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and has performed with other professional ensembles.

He began his violin studies at the age of six and subsequently attended the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School in Beijing, a period during which he toured extensively throughout China with the China Youth Symphony Orchestra. Han earned his Bachelor of Music degree alongside a Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, and later completed his Master of Music degree in Violin Performance at the Peabody Conservatory. Throughout his education, he studied under the guidance of several distinguished primary teachers, including Herbert Greenberg, Victor Danchenko, Oleh Krysa, and Wang Zhen Shan.

His summer festival engagements have included appearances at the Summit Music Festival and a fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center. As a dedicated chamber musician, Han has received coachings from members of the renowned Juilliard, Takács, Ying, and Chiara string quartets. Additionally, he has played in masterclasses led by Midori Goto and Joel Smirnoff.

Outside of his performance schedule, Han is an avid gym enthusiast. He is incredibly excited to relocate to Houston and looks forward to contributing to the vibrant Houston community both on and off the stage.
