Step Into the World of Al-Jazari’s Ingenious Clocks
In this special video performance recorded on March 15, 2025, Music Director Juraj Valčuha leads the Houston Symphony in the world premiere of Al-Jazari’s Ingenious Clocks, a new work by Houston-based composer and Shepherd School of Music Professor Karim Al-Zand. Inspired by the intricate water clocks of 12th-century inventor Al-Jazari, this piece will take you on a journey of rhythm, wonder, and imagination.
