Foundation Spotlight: The Brown Foundation, Inc.
The Houston Symphony salutes The Brown Foundation, Inc. for its support of the performing and visual arts, education, and community service in Greater Houston. Founded in 1951 by Herman and Margarett Root Brown and George R. and Alice Pratt Brown, the Foundation has been a loyal supporter of the Houston Symphony for more than fifty years.
Its support has made possible many of the orchestra’s most noteworthy achievements, including the Grammy Award-winning Wozzeck, the world premiere of La Triste Historia, the 2019 European Tour, and countless education and community engagement programs. In recent years, the Foundation’s extraordinary support has been crucial in sustaining the orchestra through challenging times.
The Houston Symphony’s Foundation Spotlight series celebrates the charitable organizations that support the orchestra and its service to Houstonians, as part of the city’s thriving cultural sector.
