ABOUT THIS CONCERT

Following his popular Beethoven and Robert Schumann presentations, Juilliard-trained concert pianist and Harvard-educated psychiatrist Dr. Richard Kogan returns to Jones Hall on Saturday, April 1 at 5 p.m. to present “Mozart: The Mind and Music of a Genius,” a free deep-dive lecture into one of classical music’s most prolific and influential composers before the Houston Symphony’s performance of Mozart’s Requiem. Through the combination of his backgrounds in psychology and music, Dr. Kogan presents insights into Mozart’s life and mind, performs excerpts from Mozart’s compositions, and joins Houston Symphony musicians for the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G minor.
