Talented multi-instrumentalist Dave Bennett and the Houston Symphony Big Band take you on a musical journey through the decades, hit by iconic hit—from the Swing Era to classics of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and more!

Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Songbook

Travel back to the golden age of jazz as the incomparable Byron Stripling salutes Satchmo with recreations of iconic hits like “What a Wonderful World,” “Basin Street Blues,” “Mack the Knife” and “Hello Dolly.”

Very Merry POPS

Broadway’s Rodney Ingram (The Phantom of the Opera) joins the Symphony and Chorus for heartwarming favorites and treasured carols. Complete with sparkling decorations and a visit from Santa, there’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit!

Pink Martini

Brimming with “fizzy spirit and breezy sophistication” (Chicago Sun-Times), Pink Martini is a glamourous and global phenomenon. Say “oui” to an exhilarating mix of Brazilian samba, Parisian café music, cabaret, and vintage jazz as this Houston favorite returns.

Classic Rock: The Sound of a Generation

Classic rock’s biggest hits come alive in this symphonic tribute to songs of The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Styx, and more. These are the songs you know by heart, and the songs you’ll be singing all the way home!

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi—in Concert

The battle between good and evil rages on in the final chapter of the original Star Wars trilogy. Rejoin Luke, Leia, Han, and the whole Rebel Alliance as they seek to destroy the Death Star and face a final showdown with Darth Vader and the Emperor.

Aretha: Queen of Soul

Aretha Franklin captured our hearts with her powerhouse voice and soulful refrains about love, pain, and triumph. Capathia Jenkins, Ryan Shaw, and the Symphony hail the Queen of Soul.

The Best of John Williams: Star Wars & More with Chorus

Artistic Partner Itzhak Perlman

Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, Itzhak Perlman is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry, but also to his irrepressible joy for making music. The Houston Symphony is thrilled to welcome Perlman back to Jones Hall as the orchestra’s first-ever Artistic Partner. In this multi-season partnership, audiences will have the chance to experience his gifts as concerto performer, recitalist, educator, and more.

Opening Night

Opening Night with Renée Fleming

The season kicks off with a special opening night concert, September 11, 2021, featuring superstar soprano Renée Fleming with Steven Reineke leading the orchestra.

Detailed programming for the 2021–22 Season will be announced later than usual as we work through ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic. Full programs will be announced as soon as confirmed, and subscribers may freely exchange concerts in their series for other Classical or POPS concerts.

While we are optimistic that the majority of the upcoming season can be presented with minimal restrictions, social distancing and safety measures will stay in place for as long as needed to ensure a safe concert experience for all. Should distancing be necessary, subscribers will be relocated on a concert-by-concert basis to accommodate social distancing protocols.
