Meet the people who lead the Houston Symphony!

Hans Graf – Music Director

Hans Graf, music director of the Houston Symphony, debuted with the Houston Symphony in March 2000 conducting Emanuel Ax in Adams' Century Rolls, with Schubert's The Great also on the program. Less than two years later, he took the podium as the orchestra's 15th Music Director.

Michael Krajewski – Principal Pops Conductor

Michael Krajewski began his role as principal pops conductor of the Houston Symphony starting in the 2000-2001 season. Currently principal pops conductor of the New Mexico Symphony, the Long Beach Symphony and the Jacksonville Symphony, Krajewski is known for his contagious enthusiasm and delightful sense of humor.

Robert Franz – Associate Conductor

Robert Franz begins his tenure as Associate Conductor of the Houston Symphony with the 2008-2009 season. Eminent composer Bright Sheng has praised Franz for his “extremely musical and passionate approach towards music making” and critics have hailed his “masterly pace, emphasis and technical control” calling his conducting “viscerally thrilling.”

Brett Mitchell– Assistant Conductor/American Conducting Fellow

Brett Mitchell, praised for both his interpretive proficiency and technical clarity, has been listed on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s “Top Ten Classical Concerts of the Year” for the past three years.
He is assistant conductor of the Orchestre National de France and a member of the American Conducting Fellows Program, a national conductor training program of the League of American Orchestras.
